As the band was active from 1967-68, that made his drums a minimum of 13 years old at the time. So that had to be the time frame my buddy's drum set dated from. My research just now indicated that the Leedy and Ludwig merger was short-lived, lasting from just 1950 to 1954. I remember the finish being a kind of thin black leather with stitching of some sort, as opposed to what you would normally find. Of course, we all knew the Ludwig name, but this was obviously something of older vintage. The drum set my friend bought was a Leedy and Ludwig. (Did I mention that he couldn't sing either?
